Sharm El Sheikh Hosts Egypt’s First Exotic Drag Race
A Historic First for Egypt’s Motorsport Scene
Egypt hosted its first exotic drag car race on Saturday, May 3rd, in Sharm El Sheikh. The event was organized by Roads and Rides, the country’s first supercar club.
Turning Roads into a Race Track
In coordination with the South Sinai Governorate, organizers transformed the Sharm El Sheikh ring road into a professional drag race track, making the event one of its kind in Egypt.
Supercars Take the Stage
The race featured an impressive lineup of exotic vehicles, including Lamborghinis, Ferraris, Porsches, and more, marking a milestone in Egypt’s motorsport evolution.
A Competitive and Safe Environment
More than 50 supercars competed in thrilling 400-meter races. The ring road was completely closed off to ensure public safety, with no crashes or injuries reported.
Official Support and Safety Measures
South Sinai Governor Khaled Fouda Mubarak attended the event along with other local dignitaries. Security teams, ambulances, and traffic police were deployed to ensure smooth and safe operations.
Sports Tourism on the Rise
The governor praised the event, calling it a turning point in Egypt’s sporting scene. He emphasized its role in positioning Sharm El Sheikh as a global hub for sports tourism and highlighted the large turnout as a sign of international trust in Egypt’s organizational capabilities.
Room for Improvement
While the event was largely successful, some attendees raised concerns about limited visibility of the track. Roads and Rides acknowledged the issue and promised better viewing arrangements in future races.
